Project RISE-SME is here to create Resilient Industry Supply Chain Enhancement for SMEs
On February 1st, 2024, the Horizon Europe project RISE-SME – Resilient Industry Supply Chain Enhancement for SMEs – successfully held its kick-off meeting in Zaragoza, Spain. The project aims to build a methodology that can identify disruptions and technological opportunities for the uptake of advanced technologies in SMEs.
RISE-SME is funded by the European Union, and it will create a quantitative model built on a methodology for different industrial ecosystems. This model will serve as a valuable tool for SMEs and the manufacturing industry, empowering them to proactively detect and anticipate disruptions in their supply chains.
Simultaneously, the project will identify opportunities for technological advancement through the establishment of new alliances, fostering the adoption of advanced technologies for enhanced flexibility, agility, and resilience in supply chains.
RISE-SME is strategically targeting key industrial ecosystems, namely agrifood, digital, mobility-transport-automotive, and textile. These sectors will be represented by sectorial clusters and Digital Innovation Hubs, ensuring comprehensive coverage and expertise.
The project consortium will leverage their knowledge on supply chain and their reach to key supply chain actors, traditional SMEs, and technology suppliers. The involvement of technology partners and entities representing tech-savvy SMEs ensures a thorough consideration of advanced technologies such as robotics, AI, IoT, Blockchain, edge computing, AR/VR solutions, B2B digital platforms, Big Data/analytics technology, 3D printing, advanced materials, micro- and nanoelectronics, nanotechnologies and photonics, among others.
During the kick-off meeting, the 10 project partners met to discuss the project objectives and methodologies to be implemented during the next 36 months. The project started in January 2024 and will be active until the end of 2026, with a global budget of more than 2M euros.
